             It Began with Hospitality

With a career that stemmed from fine dining — working alongside Chefs and learning from restaurant managers who understood that great hospitality is a form of storytelling. The pacing of a meal, the attention to every guest, the way an evening feels: experience is engineered as deliberately as anything on the plate. That standard has never left me.

                     The Venue Years
From fine dining, she later moved into event management at some of the DMV's most celebrated wedding venues — producing multiple events per weekend, developing the operational fluency that most designers never build. She learned how a wedding weekend breathes... and what breaks when planning begins too late.

Venue sales sharpened her contract expertise, financial strategy, and the vendor relationships that now run nearly two decades deep.

In 2018, she launched Karen Duckett Events and Design. Every year confirmed the same truth: the most extraordinary weddings are always the ones where she was there from the very beginning. That truth became One Eleven Design House.
